Sara A. Griffin

Sara Emanuel Griffin, born June 23, 1925, to John and Etta Emanuel in Arlington, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010. She was a graduate of Arlington High School and married John Reuben Griffin November 7, 1942. John and Sara moved to Chattanooga in 1955 with his job at the former Interstate Life Insurance Company. They joined Brainerd Baptist Church where Sara was an active member of the Love Sunday School Class. Sara was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved to host her family and friends for celebrations and special occasions.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, John and three daughters and their husbands, Cheryle and Joe Miller of Chattanooga, TN, Angela and Morris Bryan of Anderson, SC, and Melanie and Scott Gentry of Franklin, TN; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12 PM Friday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Sara’s nephew, Dr. William Sasser, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM to 12 PM Friday at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Chattanooga and a special thanks to Sara’s faithful caregiver, Ruby Denham.
