

Shirley Robertson Stephenson, 83, of Chattanooga went to be with her Lord on May 5, 2022. She was a long-time member of Crosspath at East Ridge Church (formerly East Ridge Baptist) and the Winsome Sunday School Class, where she volunteered helping seniors and youth. Shirley retired from 32 years of service as an executive assistant and stockbroker at Brown Associates, Inc.
Born in Calhoun, Georgia, Shirley graduated from Summerville High School. From 1956 to 1967, she programmed computers for Battey State Hospital in Rome. She was the first woman certified in Civil Defense rescue in Georgia, where she volunteered on the first cave rescue team in the Southeast. Late in her career, she pursued an interest in accounting at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Shirley was preceded in death by parents, James W. Robertson and Annie Lou Whitfield Robertson, and brothers, James A. (Jim) Robertson and Robert J. (Bob) Robertson. Survivors include son, J. Brad Stephenson (Seaira), grandson Derek (Rebecca) Lovely, great grandson Tommy Lovely, sisters-in-law, Hazel and Rachel Robertson, and nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 7 from 2 to 4 pm at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Services will be at the funeral home at 4 pm with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell and Rev. William Jacques officiating. Burial will follow on Monday, May 9 at 2 pm at Lakewood Memory Gardens South.
