Sue “Susan” G. Francis, of East Ridge, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012. Born in Central, South Carolina, she was a member of one of South Carolina’s pioneer families. She was also a member of the East Ridge Baptist Church and was a volunteer for many years with the American Red Cross and Senior Neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lou G. Barnes and Thomas N. Francis. Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne Barnes Reese and her husband Gene K. “Butch” Reese; son, Philip Kipling Barnes and his wife Terrie Barnes; step-daughter, Deborah Powell and her husband Joe Powell; step-son, Tommy Francis and his wife Ruth Francis; several grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Levis Gilstrap. Graveside funeral services will be held at 12 noon Friday at Lakewood Memorial Gardens, South with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the East Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund or to your favorite charity. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 404 S. Moore Road.
