

He was born on August 25, 1923 in Chattanooga, TN. He was a graduate from Chattanooga High School in 1941 and attended UT Knoxville after which he received an appointment to attend the US Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD. He graduated from the academy with the class of 1946 and entered submarine service training in New London, CT later operating in the Pacific Fleet out of San Diego, CA. He was transferred after four years to the naval aviation training program in Pensacola, FL returning to the Pacific Fleet operating out of San Diego as a carrier pilot during the Korean War. Later he served two years shore duty in the Pentagon. He then left the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander to enter medical school in Memphis, TN graduating in 1958. He returned to naval service interning and training in medical and surgical treatment of conditions of the ear, nose, and throat. He was retired from the Navy in 1968 having achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander once again, and returned to Chattanooga, TN to practice medicine. He ended his private medical practice in 1992.
Dr. Taylor was a member of Brainerd Baptist church since 1968.
He is preceded in death by his wife Gail Joan Taylor and his son Brandon Wingate Taylor.
Dr. Taylor is survived by his daughter Robin Fairfax, his son Marcus Taylor and daughter-in-law Pattie Taylor (Gilreath). Dr. Taylor was blessed with 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 2 PM on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will follow at 2 PM on Wednesday with Rev. Ray Williams officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
