Troy Glenn Pugh, 88, born to Troy Arvil and Virginia Glenn Pugh on April 14, 1933 passed away on Tuesday May 11, 2021. Some of Troy’s more notable accomplishments are that he graduated from Lee High School and attended Bob Jones College in Cleveland, Tennessee.
He married in 1951 and then enlisted in the Navy in 1952. He was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii and while there he became a father to his two sons, Michael and Gary Pugh. Troy was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1955. After serving his country Troy took his family and moved to Ohio. There he and his father owned and operated several full service gas stations. While living in Ohio, Troy’s little family grew by two more when his daughters, Melody and Deborah were born. Troy and his family returned to Tennessee in the early 1960’s. There he owned and operated several antique stores throughout the years. He and Betty were married in 1991 and were members of Ooltewah Church of God.
Troy was preceded in death by his two sons, Michael and Gary Pugh, and his parents, Troy and Virginia Pugh, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Left behind to cherish Troy’s memory are his loving wife of 30 years, Betty Jane Pugh, daughters, Melody Pugh Pendergrass; Debbie Pugh Willis; Rene’ (John) Carver; and Shawn Young, sisters, Dorothy (Alvin) Hitchcock and Gail (Don) Turner, grandchildren, Wendy (Randy) Scott; Misty Pendergrass; Chris Glenn Pugh; Jonathan W. Elliot; Jennifer McDade; Heather Elliot Baker; Richard Gonzales; Diane Hengal; Gary Pugh; Melissa Pugh; and Jasmine Carver, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and especially he and Betty’s special friend, Joyce Hickman, and many other dear friends,
A Celebration of Troy’s Life will be held in the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Thursday May 20, 2021 at 2:30 pm with Rev. Willard Griffin officiating. He will be laid to rest with military honors provided by the U.S. Naval Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 95.
