

A resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Victor graduated from East Ridge High School in 1967. He then earned his bachelor’s degree in liberal arts in 1971 and his master's degree in college teaching in 1973, both from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
After graduation, Victor served as an adjunct instructor of English at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Chattanooga State Community College. His dedication and love of learning were evident throughout his life.
Victor had a successful career spanning 28 years at the United States Postal Service, serving in various capacities and ultimately retiring as a Postmaster. His dedication and leadership were instrumental in the success of multiple stations and branches in the area.
Born in Thomaston, Georgia, on December 3, 1949, Victor was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Alton Oglesby and Mary Sue Cochran Oglesby, and his brother, David Alton Oglesby.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Rhonda Simberg Oglesby; sister Donna Marie Huskey; brother Mark Evan (Arden) Oglesby; three daughters, Stacy Oglesby (Erik) Gray, Meghan Oglesby Merciers, and Amanda Oglesby (Rob) Roshon; granddaughter Lucy Gray; five grandsons, Connor Miller, Rigby Gray, Joplin Miller, Parker Roshon and Garrett Roshon; nephews Mike Huskey and Steve Huskey; niece Corinne Oglesby; and many other extended family members and friends.
Victor was a devoted family man known for his unwavering love and support for his loved ones. His passion for genealogy was his biggest hobby, leading him on countless research journeys and connecting him with distant relatives, preserving family history for generations to come. He took great pride in caring for his yard and found joy in cultivating nature's beauty in his backyard flower garden and bird sanctuary. In later years, he found solace and challenge in putting together intricate puzzles.
With a quick wit and a generous spirit, Victor brought joy to those around him. He was a loyal fan of the Tennessee Vols, the Chattanooga Mocs, and the Atlanta Braves, cheering them on with enthusiasm. Music was a constant presence in Victor's life, and he enjoyed playing string instruments and sharing his love of music with others.
In lieu of a public visitation or funeral service, the family will hold a private gathering.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that contributions be made to Blood Assurance or the charity of your choice.
