

He was born in Chattanooga on May 17, 1931 to Walter D. and Lila Mae Ware Moore. He attended and graduated from Normal Park Grammar School, McCallie School, and the University of Chattanooga. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
In his growing up years he attended Centenary Methodist Church, In his young adult years he became a member of Central Presbyterian Church, where he served as deacon. He remained a member there until the church closed. In the summers he attended services at the Union Chapel of Walden’s Ridge, affectionately knowns as “The Little Brown Church in the Wildwood.” He enjoyed visiting Lone Oak Baptist Church.
Skip served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He was in Korea in 1955 during the occupational period. After his service in the army and graduation from college, he was a sales representative for several companies. After working at Nabors Manufacturing Corporation, he and a business partner later established Foam Fabricating, Inc., a company which distributed urethane foam and later manufactured it. During this time he served on the original Siskin 365 Board.
He had always enjoyed aviation so in his retirement he earned his private pilot’s license. He loved the wild blue yonder. He also had refurbished a Stearman World War II trainer, which was not only pretty to look at but fun to fly or be flown in or just to admire in flight.
Granddad was a loving and caring family man. He was happiest when all the family members were together sharing a meal and re-living happy times and the growing up years.
Skip was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Thomas Richard Moore and Jack Morgan Moore. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Neidhardt
Moore, two daughters, Michele (Tom) McNeill and Karen M Smith, four grandsons, Trey (Ellen) McNeill, Cody (Taylor Wilson- girlfriend) McNeill, Joseph (Jada) Smith and Walter (Alyca Del Rosario- girlfriend) Smith and two great granddaughters, Eden and Lola Smith. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Frances Elam Neidhardt of Sherman, Texas, three nephews, Rick (Judy) Moore, Jack (“Pete”) Moore and David Neidhardt and four nieces, Becky (Steve) Bass, JiJi Haque, Missy Moore and Eve Neidhardt, and a lifelong childhood friend, Tom Gribben.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 1pm to 3pm and 5pm to 7pm at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Family and friends will gather for a graveside service Friday, June 26, at 11:30 am at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Brother Sam Bollinger officiating.
The family wished to express their appreciation to Hospice of Chattanooga for their kindness and help during his stay at the Hospice Center at Standifer Place.
