

Wayne Allen Hughie, age 74, died Friday, February 23rd at Fayetteville Care and Rehabilitation Center in Fayetteville, Tennessee. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to parents, Wayne Rubin Hughie and Betty Ellis Hughie on April fool’s day in 1943. His birthday was appropriate because Wayne had an incredible sense of humor. He graduated from East Ridge High School, where he broke the state high-jump record in track. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1961, and proudly served in the Reserves for 6 years, being honorably discharged as a Corporal. He later pursued an Associate degree in History from Youngstown State University and received a Law Degree from Atlanta Law School. He owned several of his own businesses and also worked for Capital Toyota and Economy Honda as a salesman and a manager. He was preceded in death by his sister, Terry (Connie) Carden. He is survived by his daughters, Amanda Hughie and Allison Hughie, his grandchildren, Anna Nicely and Hughie Patrick, and his brother, Michael Hughie.
A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be held in the Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Wednesday February 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
