

William T. Goodwin Sr. was born in Cookeville, TN to Erastus & Minnie Goodwin on February 6, 1922. He was married to Ester Ruth Bain 5/30/1942 in Ringgold Georgia. He worked as a painter at Baylor School, he was a WWII Army Veteran CO E 594th Engineer & Boat Shore Regiment. Serving in campaigns Bismarch – Archepelago, New Guinea, Luaon. He received AP Ribbon with three bronze stars, Philippines Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, Good Conduct medal Sharp Shooter medal. He was involved with the Boy Scouts Of America serving as assistant Scout Master Troop 74.
Member of Mari-Mont Garden Club, and a member of Jones Memorial Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by wife Easter Ruth, son, William T. Goodwin Jr., grandson, Christian Goodwin, sisters, Wilma Irene, Margaret Estelle, Shirley Jean, brothers; Charlie Carl, Clyde Erastus, Ike Hutson, James Tullus.
William T. Goodwin Sr. was survived by Daughter in law Hope, son Charles, wife; Phyllis, son; Gwin wife Carol, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 11:00am August 26, with service at 12:00 pm officiated by Dale King at Chattanooga Funeral Home located on South Moore Rd. East Ridge TN. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery 1200 Bailey Avenue Chattanooga.
Memorials may be given to Chattanooga Humane Society, Amedisys Hospice
