

Mr. Kirk was born on July 17, 1923 to Alice R. Kirk and William C. Kirk, Jr. in Chattanooga, TN. And was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Central High School in 1940 and was drafted during WWII into the Air Force in 1942. He served as Radio Operator with the 491st Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force. He flew 35 Bombing Missions out of England. He received the Air Medal, 4 Oak Clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Upon his discharge in 1945, he came back to Chattanooga to join his family business, Kirk Machine Shop, where he worked until he retired in 2008.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jessie C. Kirk; second wife, Alma R. Kirk; and parents.
He is survived by his five children, Sandra Robinson, Patti (Gary) Brooks, Carolyn (Jimmy) Clement, William C. (Judy) Kirk IV, and Alice (Mark) Williamson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Alice K. Trimble.
Graveside Services will be at 10 AM Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Dr. Gary Carver officiating and military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church (1505 North Moore Road, Chattanooga, TN 37411).
