

She was born January 22, 1921 in Manhattan, NY; daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (McDermott) Whalen.
After graduating from Jamaica High School in Queens, NY in 1939, she met and married her loving husband, Bill. They married on November 21, 1944 and shared 50 wonderful years of marriage together until his passing in 1995. While living in New York, Agnes began a 20 year career as a bank teller for the First National Bank in Queens Village. Shortly after retirement, Agnes and the family moved to Cresco, PA. During her retirement, she learned how to paint. She was a talented painter, homemaker, and devoted Christian. She worshiped at the St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Stroudsburg
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by the love of her life, William P. Kelly “Bill”; her four sisters: Kathryn, Margaret, Jeanne and Irene; and two brothers-in-law: Happe and Andy.
Agnes was survived by her loving daughters: Anne Marie Kelly of Stroudsburg; and Jeanne “Candi” Martin of Wilmington, NC; Her Grandchildren: Lara Gibb and her husband Stuart of Wilmington, NC; James Calcaterra and his wife Cathryn of Rockville, MD; Christopher Labar of Stroudsburg; Great-Grandchildren: Caitlin and Abigail Gibb; Brynn and Dylan Calcaterra; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to join in a celebration of life that will be held at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home on Wednesday June 24th at 11am. A Catholic prayer service will be conducted by Father Perry at 1pm, directly after the visitation.
