

Alice was born on July 20, 1924 in Wilkes Barre PA., a daughter to the late Mr. Harold and Frances (Smith) Phoenix. She was a graduate of Coughlin High School, and took great pride in being one of the first women postal workers for the Wilkes Barre Post Office, Wilkes Barre PA., retiring from that position. During her retirement she worked part time at the Sky Top Post Office. Sky Top PA.
She was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses English Mount Pocono Kingdom Hall, in Mount Pocono PA, where she was very active in ministry. Alice also loved to travel, cook, and enjoyed entertaining her friends.
Alice was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband Edward, who passed away on March 15, 1993, and a daughter Edwina Peterson who passed away on August 2, 2005, and brothers Leroy, Harold, and Clarence Phoenix.
Surviving is a daughter, Sharon L. Swan of Belize, Central America, granddaughter’s with whom she resided Roxane and Darolyn Peterson of Cresco, and Simone Thomas of Atlanta Georgia, grandson Charles Swan Jr. of Tampa Florida, great-grandson Ian Swan and great-granddaughter Lexis Thomas, sister Harriet Butler of Clearwater Florida, and many nieces and nephews also survive.
A visitation will be held on Friday May 13, 2011 from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street East Stroudsburg, PA 18301
The family will receive guest on Saturday May 14, 2011 at the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall, Ward Ave Mount Pocono, PA 18344 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 A.M. at the Kingdom Hall with Arthur Goode a congregation elder officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery East Stroudsburg.
