Born in Union City, NJ, on June 7, 1920 he was son of the late Liborio and Giovanna (Morgese) DeMarinis. Angelo graduated from Union Hill High School class of 1940 and volunteered to enter the Civilian Conservation Corps stationed in Utah. In 1942, he enlisted in the United Sates Army and served his county during World War II and was wounded during the Market Garden Operation. He earned several Decorations and Citations including an American Theater Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon, a Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, and a Victory Medal. Following his honorable discharge from the United States Army, Angelo returned to the states and a position at Peerless Roll Leaf. Angelo worked his way up through the company (which was renamed several times) and he retired from the position of Plant Manager of Morton Thiokol in 1986.
Angelo was the first Sexton at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Paramus, NJ; and resided in NJ until the early 1990’s when he relocated to the Bushkill Falls Area of Monroe County.
He was a member of the Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Church, Milford Road, East Stroudsburg and in his retirement enjoyed working on family construction projects and tinkering with things others could not fix. Angelo cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his first son James Guy DeMarinis who passed away on March 21, 1965, his brother, Joseph DeMarinis and a sister, Connie Johnson.
Surviving is his loving wife, the former Malthilde Redshaw, who he married in England in 1945 and shared 67 memorable years of marriage together. “Hilda” resides at home in Bushkill; son, Christopher DeMarinis and his wife Nadine, also of Bushkill; daughters, Roberta A. Dyrsten and her husband Gerald of Sparta, NJ; and Michele D. Bunn and her husband James of Hoover, Al; sister, Mary Kroger of Vero Beach, FL; 11grandchildren, Heather O’Neil, Gerald Dyrsten, James Bunn, Robert Dyrsten, Heidi Truesdell, Alexander Bunn, Trevor DeMarinis, Kristiana DeMarinis, Christopher DeMarinis, Daniel DeMarinis, and Lindsay DeMarinis and 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews also survive.
The family wants to extend heartfelt thanks to the various employees of Compassionate Care Hospice and especially to Nurse Liz who helped Angelo live out the past year with his family in contentment and good cheer.
Family and friends will gather at the Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Church, 5205 Milford Road, East Stroudsburg on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 9:30 A.M. for visiting and condolences. A memorial service will follow at 10:00 A.M. with his pastor Rev. Jeffrey Brower officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, 234 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ.
