Born in Havari, Elias, Greece, on August 14, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Kostandinos and Krinio Dimitropoulas.
She was the widow of the late Kanelos “Gus” Kandris who passed away in 1985. Dionissia moved to Green River, Wyoming from Greece and lived there for 62 years. She received her American Citizenship in 1952, a very proud moment for her and her family. She then moved to East Stroudsburg 13 years ago to be close to her son. She loved to knit and crochet. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers as well as reciting all the poems she learned as a young child.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Rock Springs, Wyoming and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Stroudsburg PA.
She is survived by her daughter Krina Komadina (Jim) of Colorado Springs, CO: son; Nick Kandris (Georgia) of East Stroudsburg, PA: grandchildren; Niki Sterling (Glenn) of Castle Rock, CO., Melissa Komadina of Denver, CO.; three great-grandchildren, Kylie Sterling, Madelyn Sterling, and Chase Sterling all of Castle Rock, CO,; 3 Step grandchildren, Mike Kandris (Sandy) and family of California, Margy Hawley (Tom) and family of Big Piney Wyoming, Ken Kandres (Tanya) of Maryland. Plus numerous nephews and nieces and cousins.
Dionissia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kanelos, two brothers, six sisters, three stepchildren, step daughter-in-law, two step great grandchildren and several brothers-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law.
Avisitation will be held on Tuesday, July 24 5p-8p at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home Inc. 27 Washington St. East Stroudsburg PA. Funeral will be held on Monday July 30, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 405 N. Street, Rock Springs, Wyoming. Burial will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Green River Wyoming.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 135 Stokes Ave, East Stroudsburg, PA. or Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox, 405 N. Street, Rock Springs, Wyoming.
