Dorothy May Bartges-Latourette

Dorothy M. Bartges-Latourette, 78 of Delaware Water Gap, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning November 11, 2012 at her residence.

Born in Washington, DC; on December 18, 1933, she was the daughter to the late Earl and Rhoda Mothershead Sheaffer. Dorothy was educated in the Washington, D.C. area and lived in Laurel, Maryland; before settling in Delaware Water Gap; forty years ago.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Mountain, Delaware Water Gap, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mount Bethel Volunteer Fire Company, Upper Mount Bethel Township, and enjoyed nature walking, mall walking, and bird watching. Dorothy loved spending time with her grandchildren especially her great grandson. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was her first husband Leonard Bartges who passed away on June 5, 2002 and her brother John Sheaffer.

Surviving is her second husband Kenneth Latourette, Delaware Water Gap; son, Michael Batges and his wife Gloria, of Stroudsburg; daughters, Kathy Heck and her husband Rocky, of Hawley; and Donna De Santis and her partner Keven Repsher, of Shawnee on the Delaware; stepchildren, Melissa and Annette Latourette, both of Phillipsburg, NJ; and Linda Latourette, of Morristown, NJ; 4 grandchildren and 1 great gradchild, nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 14, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street East Stroudsburg, with her pastor Rev William Schram officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery, Prospect Street, East Stroudsburg.

A public visitation will held on Wednesday November 14, 2012 from noon until the time of the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street East Stroudsburg; where on online condolences can be made at

Nanny I miss you more and more are the best Nanny ever. I cry myself to sleep I wake up and cry.. I know you are with Pop Pop now and how much you missed him. You guys are in eachothers arms again and that makes me feel somewhat okay.. what I would do to have you guys home again. I think of all our memories together. I wish I could visit you in Heaven. This hurts so bad. I love you with all my heart and soul and I will never forget our Christmas together and all the laughs we shared. Big hugs and kisses to you. Tell Poppy I love and miss him too... :"(
