Edith R. Transue, 91, passed away peacefully Saturday April 24, 2021 at her residence. She was the loving wife of 52 years to the late Howard A. Transue. Born June 24, 1929 in Matamoras, PA, she was a daughter to the late Charles and Lillian McConnell. Edith worked at General Electric in East Stroudsburg for about 25 years. She was a member of the Stroudsburg American Legion and an Auxiliary member of the Stroudsburg VFW. She was the President of the Cootie Auxiliary for many years as well. She also volunteered at our local hospital as well as the Veterans Hospital. Edith loved to bowl, fish and crochet but she especially loved fishing trips to Canada with her husband. Those left to cherish her memory include 3 children, Vincent McConnell of Lake Wallenpaupak, Antionette Furman of Port Jervis, NY and Anna Lombardo of Shippensburg; 2 stepsons, Howard Transue of Cape May, NJ and Dave Transue of Delaware Water Gap; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and her beloved dog Jojo. A public visitation will be held on April 30, 2021 from 11:00AM-1:00PM with a prayer service immediately following at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home Inc. 27 Washington St. East Stroudsburg PA 18301. Interment will be at the Tannersville Union Cemetery. CDC recommended guidelines will be followed. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in honor of Edith to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
