peacefully on Sunday evening, February 3, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
Born at home, in Dingman’s Ferry, on January 13, 1936, Edna was the last of 13 children born to
the late Frank and Kathryn Dickison. She was of the Methodist faith and often reminisced about
walking a mile to Sunday school when she was a little girl.
Edna’s first and foremost job was being a mother. Later in life she worked at Pocono Medical
Center and retired after 29 years. In addition to working at the hospital, she was the “super” of
her apartment building. She was somewhat of a den mother, watching over and helping the
tenants. She was naturally nurturing and prepared many meals to share with neighbors and
friends. They, in turn, loved her and came bearing gifts and groceries.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and many siblings, was her husband, Charles
Paul Haag who was born on December 13, 1937 in Philadelphia and passed away in 1988.
Edna is survived by her adoring children Deborah Stock and her husband, Philip, of Stroudsburg,
Kathryn C. Debronsky and her husband George, of Mount Joy, PA, Sharon Nothstein and her
husband, Robert, of Henryville, Charles E. Haag of Henryville, Dean A. Haag and his wife, Kim,
of Binghamton, NY and Ellen M. Snook and her husband, Christopher, of Bushkill. She
cherished her grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley, Danielle, Rachael and Jesse, her extended
grandchildren Troy and Jason and her extended great grandchild, Kaylei. In addition, she is
survived by one brother, Harold Dickison, his wife Margie of Dingman’s Ferry and many
nephews and nieces. She was very excited and looking forward to the birth of her first great
grandchild this August who, if a girl, will bear her middle name.
Edna was blessed by her many friendships. She loved Shelly and Joe as brothers and we thank
you both for your loving kindness, support and friendship throughout the years. She would want
us to send her love to Carol, Art, Violet, Gladys, Kirsten and Joan. We would like to extend
heartfelt thanks to family, friends, all the wonderful doctors, staff, especially, Rob, in CV, 3rd
floor staff and all the amazing “angels” in the emergency room and the Compassionate Care Unit
on 5th floor and all the caregivers at Whitestone.
To honor Edna’s wishes, there will be no viewing and the burial service will be private. Her
wish is that her friends and family remember her as they last saw her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in our mother’s name to PMC’s ESSA
Heart and Vascular Institute, PMC’s Pocono Health Foundation or Fitzmaurice Community
Services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street East Stroudsburg, PA18301. www.lantermanallenfh.com
