
Born in March 3, 1930 in Livingston, NJ, he was a son to the late Elmer W. Sr. and Violet (Tucker) Hanlein. Elmer was employed for over 30 years at Consolidated Freightways of Mount Pocono until its closing.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Future Farmers of America. Elmer enjoyed the outdoors, camping hiking, riding four wheelers, gardening, walking his dogs and feeding the birds.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his wife the former Shirley Grace Young who passed away in 1994 and a son Rodger Hanlein who passed away in 1964.
Surviving are his daughters, Betty-Lou Boyle and her husband James of Saylorsburg; Bonnie Blyskal and her husband Ed of Landisburg; Pam Federico and her husband John of East Stroudsburg; Connie Billings and her husband Butch of Columbia; sons, Timothy Hanlein and his wife Bonnie of Columbia; Elmer Hanlein and Sherry Fanelli of Columbia; step-daughter Linda Longyhore and her husband Bob of Columbia; 13 grandchildren 25 great grandchildren and one on the way.
Funeral services will be held on Friday September 6, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg with Rev. Edmund Freeborn Pastor of East Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Prospect Cemetery, Prospect Street, East Stroudsburg.
A public visitation will be held on Friday September 6, 2013 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home
