

Elsie Allen Simons, was born on April 22, 1924 to the parents of Lou Eleanor Green, and Eddie Allen in Raleigh, NC. As a young child, she migrated to New York City with her parents, and made it her home for most of her life. There she met Jerry Simons, and married on September 27, 1947. From that union three children were born; Cherie Andrea, Jerry Jr. and Bernard Joseph.
Elsie acquired her education in New York City by graduating from George Washington High School and The Washington Business Institute for Secretarial Administration. For more than 40 years, she was employed in numerous administrative assistant positions to include federal, state and municipal jobs. Noteworthy being a personal assistant to Judge Dorothy Kenyon of New York in 1966 and later retiring from the Columbia Hospital affiliation at Harlem Hospital in 1989.
She’s survived by two beloved sons (Jerry Jr. and Bernard J. Sr.) Two daughters-in-Law (Rose and Clarice), four grandchildren (Jerry III, Bernard Jr., Latisha Monique and JaQuoa Cherie.) She also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren and first cousins (Jackie, Barbara, Robert & Bertha Mae.) Additionally, two very special friends Christina and Russell Cason.
