Gary Beresk

Born May 7, 1951, he was the son of the late Stanley T. and Grace J. Beresk, of Hicksville, Long Island.

Gary joined the Coast Guard after high school. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Hicksville, where in the 1980’s he joined Stephen Ministries (a caring and comfort ministry). Gary married Susan in 1979. In 1989 they moved to the Poconos and joined Saint Paul’s. Gary enjoyed working with wood and building things. He was a self-employed home improvement contractor. He enjoyed being on the water, at the beach, and in the mountains, including at their vacation home in Maine. He particularly enjoyed driving his grandchildren around his neighborhood on his tractor, sitting at the campfire, and watching the Yankees. The last few years, Gary and Susan traveled whenever they could, going on many cruises. This past summer they drove out West to Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, and many other parks.

Gary had been predeceased by his parents; and brother-in-law, Calvin P. Ames.

Gary is survived by his wife Susan (Ames) Beresk of Smithfield Township; sons, Jared and wife Alexandra Beresk of Eagleville, PA, John and wife Kylie Beresk of Chester Springs, PA, Matthew and wife Claire Beresk of East Stroudsburg, PA, Lucas and wife Meghan Beresk of Pottstown, PA; grandchildren, Marisa, Kaden, Jessica, Noelle, Harper, Eliza; brother-in-law, Warren and Kathy Ames; sister-in-law, Lynn Ames (wife of Calvin P. Ames); nieces and nephew, Michael, Christine, Rebecca, Karen, and Kimberly.

Visitation will be held October 8, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church of Smithfield, 139 Craig’s Meadow Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301, with a memorial service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church of Smithfield, PA.
