Born August 4, 1927 in Elmira, NY; he was the son of Harold D. Larison, Sr. and Elizabeth (Ayers) Larison. Sarge graduated from East Stroudsburg High School as a member of the Class of 1945. He was a Private in the Army as part of the World War II occupation Army, Company K 351st Infantry Regiment. He was called up for duty again December 1950 for the Korean Conflict a month after he married, Kathryn Phillips, on November 11, 1950.
Sarge was a Police Sergeant for the East Stroudsburg Police Department for 25 years until his retirement in 1985. He loved the outdoors, spending many hours hunting, fishing and throwing cookouts. His favorite was spending time at the Lakefront Cedar Chalet he built himself on Pocahontas Lake. Many magical family holidays were held at his chalet with a Christmas tree lite up on the dock and one by the fireplace all topped off by cascading waterfall lights hung on the deck railings.
Sarge was inseparable from his special needs son, Donny. The two of them were the best of buddies and could be found daily enjoying a meal at Besecker's or Arlington Diners.
Sarge was a member of the East Stroudsburg Methodist Church, Fraternal Order of Police, VFW, Pocahontas Rod & Gun Club, PA Sheriffs' Association, Masonic Temple and the health office for the borough of East Stroudsburg ofr many years.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his beloved wife of 62 years, Kathryn and sister, Geraldine Schoonheim.
Surviving are his daughters, Gerry Downing (Thomas) of Ambler and Bet Hays of East Stroudsburg; son, Don Larison of East Stroudsburg; grandsons, Thomas Downing, Ambler, Daniel Downing, Flourtown and Christian Hays, Temple University, Philadelphia and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, PA. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery, Prospect Street, East Stroudsburg.
