
Born August 10, 1927, in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Elsie Shoemaker Harris. She graduated from Scranton Technical Class of 1945 and married John Barnes in 1950. She was a loving wife and mother and most recently worked at Matthew’s Hallmark until retirement in 1998. She was also a hairdresser and worked at the nursery at Pocono Wellness & Sports Center part time.
Helen was an active member of the Hauserville Chapel, in East Stroudsburg. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee, crossword puzzles and being the best wife and mother she could be.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, John L. Barnes, who passed away on June 6, 1999, and a brother, Robert Harris and his wife, Eloise.
Surviving is a son, Steven Barnes and his wife, Freda, of East Stroudsburg; Daughters: Carla Potocnie and her husband Joe, of Nevada, and Barbara Mullally and her husband Pat, of Stroudsburg. 4 Grandchildren Amy Pontz, Amanda Kirkpatrick, Flora Barnes and Jack Mullally, 3 great grandchildren Ethan, Sierra and Jayden and a niece Bobette Harris Morgan.
Family and friends may gather at Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home Inc, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg on Friday October 18, at 1 p.m. until the time of service.
Funeral services will be held on Friday October 18, at 2 p.m. at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Ave., East Stroudsburg, PA, officiated by Pastor Samuel Hufford. Interment will follow at the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg, PA.
