
Ivan was born in Lancaster, PA a son to the late Mr. Ivin V. Sr. and Katherine (Swinehart) Wicks. He graduated from Milton Hershey School class of 1946, and served his country during WWII in the United States Army as a Rifleman First Class. Ivan earned a WWII victory metal. Upon his honorable discharge form the United States Army Ivan worked as a Tool and Die Maker, retiring in 1993 from Surf Chemical of Hackettstown N.J.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #922 in Cresco PA. Ivan was an outdoorsmen and enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking with his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was a son Timothy Wicks and brother Eggar T. Wicks and a sister Arlene Oker.
Surviving are his loving wife former Leanora LaBar, with whom he celebrated 31 years of marriage on February 14, 2011, daughters, Penny Wicks of Canadensis, Mary Patricia Mahony and her husband Michael of California, sons Stephen Wicks and his wife Teressa, of Canadensis, Mitchel Wicks of Canadensis, and Robert Wicks and his wife Melissa of Long Pond, step-daughters Carolyn Snyder and her husband Kevin of East Stroudsburg, Cindy Treible and her husband Wayne of East Stroudsburg, and Kelley Sickles and her husband Carmen of Henryville, a step-son Stephen Moore and his wife Joanne of Lehighton. 20 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and his loving retriever Beau also survive.
Funeral services with military honors will be held on Friday May 27, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home 27 Washington Street East Stroudsburg, with Pastor Lynn Breedy officiating, Interment will follow in Laurelwood Cemetery Stroudsburg.
A public visitation will be held on Thursday from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
