Jack J. Tonkay, originally from Conshohocken PA, was a long-time resident of East Stroudsburg, Pa died after a brief illness on Saturday, September 24th, 2022 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
The devoted husband of Elizabeth Tonkay and of the late Carol “Bunny” Tonkay, he is survived by 2 sons Jack and his wife Laurie Tonkay of Three Forks, Montana and their sons Alex and Alden. And David and his wife Juile Tonkay of Saylorsburg, PA. and their children Gavin and Macey. Jack was predeceased by his brother Edward P. Tonkay Jr. of Stroudsburg, PA.
Jack had a long and storied work history that included kids pony rides, cement hauling, managing the food and beverage department at Camelback Ski Corp, and was the owner of several restaurants.
More recently, Jack loved operating his trucking business and could always been seen hauling stone up and down the area roadways. Jack was a life-long supporter of local high school football. When Jack wasn't busy managing his business, selling firewood or Christmas trees, he could often be seen riding his bike around town, in Lancaster County and at his winter get away in Deland, Florida. In his later years, he found great enjoyment in attending outdoor “oldies” rock and roll concerts with his wife Liz. Jack was a devoted 'Poppy' and was known for making the best macaroni salad that was always specially requested by his granddaughter Macey.
