
Born in Queens, NY on May 30, 1950, he was the son of the late James J. Sr. and Helen ( Link) Kelly. James was a graduate of Chelsea Vocational High School, in New York, NY, the class of 1966. James was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1971, after spending 6 months in St. Albans Hospital in Queens, NY. He worked for many years for the New York City Transportation Authority, as a bus driver, until he retired in 2005. James was a member of St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church, in East Stroudsburg. He enjoyed model trains, coin collecting, and spending time with his family.
Surviving is his loving wife of 39 years Colleen Kelly, of East Stroudsburg; a daughter: Larae Brennan and her husband Michael, of Woolwich Twp., NJ; three sons: James J. Kelly III, of Lindenhurst, NY, Michael Kelly and his wife Tracy, of Chambersburg, PA, and Brian Kelly, of Lindenhurst, NY; 8 grandchildren: Kylah, Michael, James, Corey, Madison, Sean, Kiera, and Michael; a brother: Michael Kelly, of Florida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday November 18, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church, 200 Brodhead Ave. East Stroudsburg, PA, with Monsignor John A. Bergamo, officiating.
A public visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home Inc. 27 Washington Street East Stroudsburg.
