Jill Allyn Werkheiser, 65, of East Stroudsburg, died suddenly and unexpectedly in her home on Saturday, December 5. It was at this moment that Jill, a child of God, became joint heirs with Christ in Heaven. Jill is now rejoicing in Jesus’ glory and is in reunion with her parents, friends and relatives.
Born on September 26, 1955 in Bristol, CT, Jill was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary Dicker Werkheiser. She graduated from Notre Dame High School of East Stroudsburg in 1973 and then from Northampton Community College with a degree in Nursing. Jill worked as a Registered Nurse primarily on the CVTele floor at Pocono Medical Center completing nearly 40 years of service prior to retiring in November 2017. Jill’s compassion for her patients did not go unnoticed and was much admired for her dedication and commitment to performing her duties with skill and kindheartedness.
Jill was the definition of unconditional love and could out-love anyone! She was a devoted daughter, sister, friend, aunt and great-aunt. Jill was an avid collector of dolls, loved Mickey, Minnie and Disney movies, and enjoyed taking drives in her “Z” touring around with the top off. But most of all, Jill adored her nieces and great niece and great nephews. She enjoyed going to the movies, theater in New York, vacationing and reading pool-side. She took many trips out West with her sister and nieces camping all the way providing daily laughter and having “song day” while traveling in the van! Jill also loved to take her nieces to Broadway shows as they were growing up and even was with her great nephews the first time they went to New York City. When they least expected it, Aunt Jill would successfully steal kisses from her Three Little Princes!
Jill is survived by her sisters: Judy Hathaway and husband, Barrie Leigh, Mary-Ann Rodriguez, Heidi Schwab, and Kim Wyler and husband Gary. She is also survived by her soul-sister, Carol Klinger and husband, Rick, as well as nieces Jennifer and husband Andrew, Julie and husband Herb, Sarah and husband Brett, Jessica, and Abigail and finance Alex LaMountain. Lastly, Jill is survived by her great niece Hannah, and great nephews Jacob, Aiden, Asher, Samuel, Zachary, Gavin, Nathan and Xander.
The family will be holding private services at this time but will have a celebration of Jill’s life and legacy in 2021. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you perform a random act of kindness in Jill’s honor. We also ask that you take a moment this Christmas season and be the light to someone else and let them know that they are loved, as Jill always did!
