OBITUARY

Kathleen Cruz

November 20, 1958April 18, 2021

Kathleen Cruz (nee Brophy), of Bushkill Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2021 at home. Kathleen was the loving wife of Artemio Cruz. Kathy and Artie met when she was in high school and they were inseparable ever since. They were happily married for 40 years. Kathy and Artie were truly devoted to each other, and their son, Christopher. Kathleen was born November 20, 1958 in Queens, NY and was the daughter of Catherine Weems (nee Murray) and Thomas P. Brophy (deceased). The things that Kathleen cherished most were her family, her friends and animals. This is what gave her the most joy. She was the most caring mom, friend and sibling; always checking in and keeping in touch and lending a hand, or an ear. Whatever she could do to show how much she truly cared, Kathleen was there. Kathleen’s deep sensitivity for nature and animals was obvious to all. Anyone who knew her probably has a funny or cute video of an animal somewhere in their photo gallery. She loved to share them and we loved seeing them, knowing how much they were enjoyed by her. Her kindness and concern for others knew no bounds. She spent many years visiting nursing homes and hospitals with her much loved, pet therapy dog, Chandler. She was a wonderful gardener, with the help of her husband, and had an eye for designing beautiful flower gardens around her yard. Of course, living in a community full of evergreens and maple trees, the deer were big fans too! That didn’t stop Kathleen from growing more flowers every year, and she loved all the critters that came through the yard, even those black bears! Kathleen loved to go back to visit Long Island every year to spend time in Port Jefferson, one of her favorite places. She enjoyed visiting the beaches where she grew up, seeing old friends and eating at all her favorite spots. This is how we hope you remember Kathleen – A loving Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and loyal Friend. Kathleen, we love you and miss you and can’t believe you are gone. We know that you and Aunt Eileen are together. You will never be forgotten by all that knew you. Kathleen is survived by her loving husband, Artie Cruz of Bushkill, PA. Son Christopher Cruz, of Bushkill, PA. Mother, Catherine Weems of Firestone, CO. Sister Ellen Ann Ehrhardt and husband John Ehrhardt of Firestone, CO. Brother, Thomas Brophy of San Diego, CA. Sister, Teresa Moore and husband Bill Moore of Oxford, NJ. Nephew, Sean Ehrhardt and wife Antonia Ehrhardt of Winter Springs, FL. Nephew, Ryan Ehrhardt of Munich, Germany. Rest Easy in the Lord's arms, Heaven has gained another Angel! Patty & I met you walking your dog 10 years ago and our friendship began! When you went for your walks you would always stop and chat with us. We had many nice long conversations, I always felt like I was stealing time from your excersize! Over time we saw you less & less but you still managed to get out and spread happiness! Thank you for welcoming us to your neighborhood, you were one of the first people we met here in Saw Creek. We will miss you dearly! Artie & Son you have lost a great Wife & Mother! May Cathy Rest in Eternal Peace! Love Always!

It's with great sadness I write this. It was only just over a week ago Artie, Kathleen and I were out having dinner together. I'm just glad that I got to see you both and enjoy catching up over a good meal. Seeing you made my trip that much better. Rest in peace Kathleen your in my prayers.

With love your cousin James.

A Message For My Daughter

In my eyes there is no one that could equal your beauty,
no word that can describe what you mean to me,
nothing that could lessen my love for you, as you have it now for all eternity.
No matter how old you might be, you will always be my little girl to me.

I Love You,
Mom

My dear Aunt Kathy was one of the strongest women I knew! I miss her and will never forget her. Over the past year Aunt Kathy reached out to me pretty regularly just to check in to see what’s going on with me in Germany. I really enjoyed our short little chats over Facebook. RIP ❤️

We've been together for 45+ years through the good times and bad. No matter what came up we pulled though together. You are my love, my soul mate and my best friend. ♥️ How do I go on?💔 I was in the car the other day, looked to the right and you weren't there.💔 On a lighter note...I will feed the birds 🐦 you were always bugging me about. Knowing that you are finally with your best friend brings me comfort. Give Debbie my love. I will always love 💘you. I miss you already. For now I will say goodnight with 3 kisses 💋💋💋and a hug 🤗 like I did every night. Till we meet again my love. ♥️♥️♥️

We shared so many good times in our life together. We were known as “Irish Twins,” as we were born on the same day 1 year apart, and we knew that was very special. But one memory that Kathleen and I often talked about was when we were asked to watch my brothers Golden Retriever puppy, Heidi. He lived in San Diego so we jumped at the chance to go there. Our Mom and Ronnie paid for us to fly First Class to CA and told us to enjoy the pool at the Country Club-at their expense! “Did we go to the country club you ask,” we sure did! And while we were there, “why not order lunch and have it brought to us pool side,” we thought, —and maybe invite a friend or two to join us!!
Along with making sure we kept our tan lines up and deciding which Mexican restaurant to dine at next, was also a highlight.
Those 3 weeks were something Kathleen and I talked about and laughed over many times and so happy that we had that time. My sister was so strong and brave, an Irish Warrior to me, and I will miss her terribly. I love you Kathleen❣️❣️
