
Born in East Stroudsburg on June 18, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Edna (Bogart) Van Why.
Leola was a member of the American Legion and the VFW of East Stroudsburg. She enjoyed gardening, camping, square dancing, and spending time with her family. Leola was a hard worker at the local shoe factory and the blouse mill, in East Stroudsburg.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was a loving husband Raymond Van Why, grandson: Donald J. Bond, daughter-in-law: Sue Smith, several sisters and brothers,
Surviving is a daughter: Barbara Bond and companion Bob L. Fehar of Kunkletown; two sons: Herbert R. Smith of Effort, Eugene H. Smith and his wife Gail of Powhatan, VA; seven grandchildren: Teresa, Jamie, Elaine, Michaell, Sherry, Kevin, and Michael; 15 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; three sisters: Carolyn Labar of East Stroudsburg, Olivia Widmen of Wooddale, and Norma Jean Williams of FL; a brother Daniel Bisbing, Sr. and his wife Gloria of Stroudsburg; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at noon at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home Inc., 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg. Interment will be held at Prospect Cemetery, in East Stroudsburg.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, January 9, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. till time of service.
