

Nora B. Strouse, 95, formerly of East Stroudsburg, passed away peacefully at Regina Nursing Center, Norristown, PA on Sunday December 27, 2015. She was the wife of the late Willard Strouse with whom she wed on October 11, 1937.
She was born on August 23, 1920 in East Stroudsburg, daughter of the late Mary VanWhy and the late Louis Singer.
Nora spent most of her life in East Stroudsburg and was known by many in her later years as “the lady that walked”. She walked many a mile to visit her husband of 60 years who resided at the Laurel Manor in Stroudsburg, prior to his death. She worked for Courtland Novelty as a sewing machine operator for 26 years, until she retired. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union Local 234-243 of Easton. She was also a lifetime member of the Ladies International Order of Reindeer, Herd 12 of Stroudsburg. Nora was crafty; she loved to crochet, knit, sew, read, and create just about anything with her hands. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be sorely missed.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Willard, Nora was preceded in death by her siblings; Wallace, Betty Jean, Robert, Frances, Edward “Bud”, and Arlington “Sonny”; and her Granddaughter, Stefani.
She is survived by her daughter; Carol Garis-Kittel and her husband Gordon of Norristown, PA; her son Robert Strouse and his wife Patricia, of Browns Mills, NJ; Her sister: Lillian Lehnert; Four grandchildren: Scott, April, Jeannie, and Bob; Seven great-grandchildren; and five great, great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a public visitation held from 11am-12 noon on Monday, January 4, 2016 immediately followed by the funeral service, held at Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301. Burial will follow at The Stroudsburg Cemetery, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
