
Born in East Stroudsburg on February 22, 1924, he was a son of the late Howard H. Sr., and Helen (Gordon) Palmer. Norman attended Stroudsburg High School, and worked at Addies Diner, where he met his future bride Nancy. He was called to serve in the United States Army, served his country in World War II, earning a Good Conduct Medal, an American Theater Service Medal, and a World War II Victory Medal. Following his honorable discharge, Norman went home to Nancy and they started a family in Washington, NJ where he owned and operated, Norm’s Auto Electric. He then obtained an Industrial Electrician position at American Can Company, Washington, NJ, where he retired from in 1979. In the mid 1980’s Norman relocated to the Readers section of Monroe County where he enjoyed a long retirement with his family.
Norman was an active member of Countryside Alliance Church, Brodheadsville, where he was an Elder and enjoyed maintaining the church and its grounds. He was also a member of the VFW of Stroudsburg, and the Monroe County Sherriff Association. Norman was known to be able to fix just about anything, he enjoyed working with his hands and gardening, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Norman loved helping people, especially his family.
Waiting for him was his loving wife of 67 years, Nancy Adeline (Morrow) Palmer who went to be with Lord in February of 2011, his son Daniel Lee Palmer who went to be with the Lord in February of 1961 and brothers Robert, James A., and Howard H. Palmer.
He leaves behind his sons, Norman S. Palmer and his wife Carol and Howard H. Palmer and his wife Jillian both of Reeders; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 2, 2014 at noon in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg with his pastor David Hickman, officiating. Interment will follow in Musconetcong Valley Cemetery Hampton, NJ.
A public visitation will be held on Wednesday April 2, 2014 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg.
