Patricia E. Brereton

Patricia E. (Donaldson) Brereton, 77, of Stroudsburg passed away after a long illness on Monday, December 1, 2014 at the VNA/Hospice House, East Stroudsburg, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Brodhead and Ridgeway Street, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301 at 10:00 AM Friday, December 5, 2014 with Celebrant Rev. Fr. Edward Lyman. Interment immediately following at Prospect Cemetary, 501 Prospect St. East Stroudsburg, PA 18301. Visitation to be held Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Lanterman and Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM with a prayer Vigil at the evening viewing.

Mrs. Brereton was born October 26, 1937 in Bronx, New York and graduated from Manhattan Cathedral High School Class of 1955. She was employed as an Executive Assistant for New York Telephone retiring in 1988. During her 30 year employment at New York Telephone, Pat was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America’s clown troop which brought joy and laughter to the sick and disabled at local nursing homes and hospitals in New York City. She also enjoyed league bowling, supporting her local parish, St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, and was a member of the Bushkill Garden Club and the Red Hat Society.

Pat was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Richard J. Brereton; parents, William and Helen (Carlin) Donaldson; brother, Edward Donaldson; sister and brother-in-law, Grace (Donaldson) and Anthony Ceruto; niece Barbara (Ceruto) Fasbender and great-nephew Erik M. Roemer. She is survived by sister-in-law Elina Donaldson; nieces: Adele (Ceruto) Roemer, Lianna Roemer, Marion (Ceruto) O’Donoghue; nephews: Brian and Paul Donaldson, Richard Ceruto and wife Marie, Godmother: Evelyn Rogan and cousins: Timothy Rogan, Regina Roth, Sharon Rogan, Colleen Rogan, Melanie (Roth) Arminio and Renae Roth and lifelong friend of Florence Sanford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Patricia to Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, c/o Montefiore Medical Center, 111 East 210th St., Bronx, NY 10467, Attention: Megan Cerezo, Office of Development.
