

Richard Kenneth VanWhy, 85, of East Stroudsburg, passed away Monday November 1, 2021 while in the loving care of the Gardens at Easton. He was the devoted husband of late Barbara A. (Wismer) VanWhy and they shared 41 years of marriage.
Born April 5, 1936 in Minisink Hills, Pa, he was a son of the late Cyrenues and Ruth (Place) VanWhy.
Richard attended school in Hainesburg, New Jersey. He then worked at the Fernwood Resort in Bushkill for 37 years before his retirement in 1997. Richard was a master at woodworking and made various pieces of furniture for family and friends. He was a quiet man who was happy being home with family and friends visiting. In his middle age years, he enjoyed many bus trips with Barbara and close friends- Sara Mae and Harold (Toot) Ace of Bushkill. Pa.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by stepfather Kenneth Transue and sister Myrtle Makosky.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Constance Staples and her late husband Lyle of East Stroudsburg, residing with them the past 11 years, and Sandra Booth and her husband Kevin of Brodheadsville; sons Kurt Evans of East Stroudsburg, Thomas Evans and his wife Suki of Columbus NJ and Wayne VanWhy of Stroudsburg; sisters Naomi Robbins and her husband Stanley of Hillsgrove, and Lorraine Meckler of Nazareth; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren also a very special niece Elaine Makosky as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday November 6, 2021 at the Sandhill Cemetery, Sandhill Road East Stroudsburg PA 18302.
