
Born in Bethlehem on February 10, 1971 he was a son of the late Kenneth P. Thomas, Sr. and Carolyn Dugey of Saylorsburg and resided in the Saylorsburg area most of his life. He attended Pleasant Valley High School and was employed as a Mason for the former Hart Tate Masonry of Stroudsburg.
Shawn enjoyed the outdoors; he loved to hunt, fish, ride motorcycles, quads, dirt bikes and race snowmobiles. He was also known as a “Mr. Fix It,” because he could fix anything with a motor. Shawn also enjoyed remodeling his home and keeping track of his favorite NASCAR Racing driver number #24 “Jeff Gordon”. Shawn loved his dog “Scooby” and his bird “Birdy”.
Preceding him in death in addition to his father was brother: Kenneth P. Thomas, Jr. and a brother in law: Tony Burnette.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife of 17 years Catherine Hurley Thomas, Saylorsburg; daughter, Candace Thomas at home; son: Shawn P. Thomas, Jr. at home; step-father, Charles Dugey, Sr. of Saylorsburg; three brothers: Timothy P. Thomas and his wife Tamra of Saylorsburg, Thomas P. Thomas of Frackville, Ted Thomas and his wife Sandi of Saylorsburg; sisters: Tammy Burnette of Norlina, N.C., Brenda Kern and her husband Christopher of Stroudsburg; step-brothers, Charles R. Dugey, Jr and his wife Chris of Nazareth, Randy Dugey and his wife Karen of Saylorsburg; brother in laws: George McManus and his wife Kim Marie, of Nazareth, Andrew McManus and his fiancé Cookie of Hackettstown, NJ, Richard McManus of Pen Argyl, Michael Hurley and his fiancé Leslie of Pen Argyl; sister in law, Gail Shattuck and her husband Paul of Bartonsville; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 27 Washington Street, with Rev. Pastor John Harding officiating. Interment will follow in Forks Church Cemetery Inc, Forks Township.
Family and friends may attend a public viewing on Wednesday evening April 4, 2012 at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
