Born in Elizabeth, NJ on December 20, 1923, he was the son to the late John and Elizabeth (Mullen) Dillon. Walter graduated high school at Thomas Jefferson High in Elizabeth, NJ in 1943. Walter served his country proudly in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He received several remarks such as the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific 1 bronze star, American Theater and the Victory Medal. After the navy Walter attended Rutgers University, in NJ, from 1947 to 1948. Walter retired in 1980 from the American Can Company stationed in CT.
He was a member of St. John’s Roman Catholic Church in Marshalls Creek. Walter enjoyed helping out with the Bushkill Outreach programs. He enjoyed wood working and traveling. He was a member of the V.F.W and the Knights of Columbus.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his loving wife of 52 years Ann T. Dillon whom passed away on March 27, 2004, and three brothers: Vincent Dillon, Eugene Dillon, and Francis Dillon.
Walter is survived by his son: Walter F. Dillon Jr. and his wife Grace, of Manchester, NJ; two grandchildren: Charles F. Dillon, of North Brough, MA, and Chelsea A. Dillon, of Manchester, NJ; three special nieces and their families: Maureen Slover , Kay Ciaralli, and Roseann Freeman.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday March 25, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in Saint John’s Roman Catholic Church, 5171 Milford Road, East Stroudsburg, with Father Jeffrey Walsh officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Prospect Cemetery Mausoleum, Prospect Street East Stroudsburg.
A public visitation will be held on Monday March 25, 2013 at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home Inc. 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg from 8:30 A.M. to 9:30 A.M.
