Walter H. Riebesell

Born on July 27th, 1922 and raised in Jersey City, he graduated from Dickinson High School and later received an Associate of Arts in Pre-Engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He continued his Mechanical Engineering education at Newark College of Engineering. Walter specialized in purchasing where he worked for Curtiss-Wright Corporation, Thiokol Chemical Corporation and New Brunswick Scientific before retiring in 1996.

Walter was a veteran of World War II where he proudly served as a Corporal in the US Army in the 11th Armored Division, 491st Armored field artillery Battalion. He participated in the "Battle of the Bulge". He also resided in Ridgefield Park, NJ and Succasunna, NJ before retiring to Canadensis, PA and East Stroudsburg, PA. Walter was a long time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where he served in various committees including church council, stewardship, evangelism, call, property and maintenance, and taught sunday school for 36 years. His dedication to all of his churches where he served was an expression of his deep faith. He loved traveling with his family, taking walks and reading, especially history. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a true gentleman.

He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Laura (nee Kickart), brothers: Arthur and Ernest.

Surviving is a daughter: Laura and her husband Dr. Richard Spinner, of East Stroudsburg; his son: David Riebesell and his wife Janette, of Mount Olive Township, N.J.; his grandsons: Michael Glavich and his wife Jeanne of Ocean City, MD and Matthew Glavich and his wife Melissa of East Stroudsburg, and his great grandson Jacob Glavich, of East Stroudsburg.

A Funeral Service and interment will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 139 Craigs Meadow Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301 on Saturday, June 15 at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Walter's memory to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 203 Eyland Avenue, Succasunna, NJ 07876 or to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 139 Craigs Meadow Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
