
Born in East Stroudsburg, November 26, 1932, he was the son of the late Thomas and Jeanette (Smith) Harris.
Mr. Harris was a graduate of East Stroudsburg High School, Class of 1951.
Prior to his retirement he was employed as a delivery man for the Laurel Beverage Co.
He was a life member of the Acme Hose Fire Company of East Stroudsburg; William served as President of the Monroe Co., fireman’s association. He was instrumental in the formation of the fire school in Monroe Co., William was an instructor for over 50 years in the four county fireman’s association and was co-author of the book entitled “Wild Fire”. He had helped to establish crime watch in East Stroudsburg; he also lived for hunting and fishing.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his wife Marie (Adams) Harris, who passed away September 20, 2003.
Surviving Sons: William Harris, Jr. of Delaware Water Gap, Pa; Benjamin Harris, Sr. and his companion Carole Matyas of Belleair Beach, Florida; James A. Harris and his companion Catherine Michaels, of Stroudsburg; Timothy Harris and his wife DeAnn, of East Stroudsburg, Pa: Nine Grandchildren; Fourteen Great Grandchildren; a Brother: Thomas (Tim) Harris, of College Station, Texas and Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
A Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012; from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home Inc. 27 Washington Street East Stroudsburg, PA 18301. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
