William Kirk Young Sr.

Born on January 30, 1943 in East Stroudsburg, he was a son to the late Mary Singer and William L. Young. Kirk graduated from Wheaton High School in Silver Spring, MD; and enlisted in the United Stated Navy, surviving his country in the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge he worked as a bartender for many years until purchasing the Slateford Inn, Mt. Bethel; of which he owned and operated until selling that business and acquiring a real-estate agent position with Forney Reality Agency, East Stroudsburg, retiring in 2008 after 28 years of service.

Kirk was a member of the American Legion, East Stroudsburg, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Stroudsburg, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Apple Dumpling Gang. He was a lifelong hunter and fishermen, enjoyed traveling, and spending the winter in FL. Kirk loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed taking them to Disney World in FL and enjoyed watching his grandson play football at the East Stroudsburg Cavaliers Football games.

Surviving is his wife of 40 years this past January, Charlene (Cramer) Young, of East Stroudsburg; son, William Kirk Young Jr. of East Stroudsburg; daughter, Krista Lee Scarpelli also of East Stroudsburg; grandchildren: William Kirk (Crusher) Young III, Frankie Rudolph Scarpelli and Mia Kate Scarpelli; brother, Robert Young of Saylorsburg; sisters Roxann Harps of Tannersville, Faye Lynn Bruce and her husband Harper Burce of Stroudsburg, and Ginger Mosher of Saylorsburg; and many nieces, nephews, and his 70th birthday present buddy his dog.

A memorial service will be celebrated at a later date to be announced by the family.
