For many months, Mom would say that “she just wants to go home”! Anita M. Kimball was reunited with her husband, our Dad, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 and is finally Home. She was born on July 18, 1934, to Clarance and Emily (Modena) Parker and was one of 9 children born to this union. She is the last one of their children to depart this earth.
On October 3, 1952, Anita married Aubrey Kimball and to this union was born 5 children. Mom and Dad were married over 66 years before our Dad passed away in 2019. Mom and Dad lived north of Harrah for many years and enjoyed country life. Mom was a full-time homemaker during all their married life, with the exception of 2 days during the first month of marriage. Dad was extremely proud of providing for his family but would always speak about how she had received 1 paycheck for $28.00. He always said she was more valuable to the family by staying home to take care of all of us.
Mom and Dad loved to travel, and early family trips included going deer hunting and camping during Thanksgiving week. Their travels always included going to see family with trips to Albuquerque, Ireland, Florida and the East coast. Dad made sure Mom traveled in style whether it was in their motorhome or a station wagon with the children playing games in the back with the seats down. One trip they almost didn’t make it back to Oklahoma City. When returning from overseas on Braniff Airlines, that company decided to cease operations while they were in mid-flight. Their flight was the very last Braniff flight to land, period! Mom always kept scrapbooks of their travels and enjoyed telling everyone who came to visit about their adventures.
Our parents loved the Lord and would always talk about His goodness and grace to anyone they talked to. Mom and Dad set a good example for their children by reading their Bible faithfully until their eyesight faltered. One of their favorite Bible verses was Philippians 1:20 and 21 (…that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.)
Mom and Dad leave behind 4 children to cherish their memory - Diann Wilson of Prague, Cheryl (John) Williams of Edmond, Lydia (Steve) Williams of Sanford, Florida and Aaron Kimball of Harrah, who Mom resided with during her last years. They also leave behind 19 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey and they were preceded in death by their middle son, Jo-El, as well as 1 great granddaughter, Makala Lynn, and 1 great-great grandson, Lincoln.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 S. Broadway Edmond, OK 73034.
Services will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 10 am at Highway Baptist Church, 11341 Highway 99, Seminole, Oklahoma followed by interment alongside her husband and son in Johnson Cemetery, north of Shawnee.
The family is grateful for the tenderness and care provided to Mom during her final days by Bristol Hospice. We also appreciate Baggerly Funeral Home of Edmond handling the arrangements for Mom’s services.
