Betty Lou Ross went with the angels to be with her Lord Wednesday December 9, 2020.

Betty was born to George and Alma Hoagland on July 16, 1926, in Sapulpa, OK. She was the youngest of three siblings. The Hoaglands moved to Oklahoma City in the mid 1930’s. She graduated form Classen High School in 1944. After graduation she would go to the USO in Norman to dance with the servicemen. It was on one of those nights she met Jack H. Ross of San Francisco, CA, stationed in Norman with the Navy. They were married at The First Baptist Church Oklahoma City, on July 14,1946. They were together for 62 years until Jack passed away in 2008. They had two sons and two daughters. They lived in Oklahoma City; Carmi, IL; Corsicana, TX; Edmond, OK; San Antonio, TX; and back to Edmond following the oilfield. She worked as a secretary with the Corsicana, Edmond, and San Antonio Public School Districts, and as secretary for Lord of Life Lutheran Church.

Betty was a firm believer in her Lord and Savior, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City, Village Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Carmi, First Baptist Church of Corsicana, First Baptist Church of Edmond, and Henderson Hills Baptist Church. She also attended Wednesday Evening services at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with her son and daughter-in-law.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; husband, Jack; and daughter, Carolyn Kernahan. She is survived by sons, Terry and his wife Jane and Robert and his wife Ruby; daughter, Jackie and her husband Doug Johnson; five grandchildren: Chris Ross, Daniel Ross, Ryan Ross, Braydn Johnson, and Katie Jane Blose; and five great-grandchildren.

Betty will be buried next to her husband Jack during a private service at Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers a memorial to Henderson Hills Baptist Church: Uganda Women’s Ministries, may be made in her name.
