Bryce Evan Gonzalez was born on May 18, 2009 and passed away on July 14, 2020.

An avid fan of the outdoors, Bryce enjoyed biking, fishing in the neighborhood pond, hunting with his dad, swimming at the beach, bird watching, and boating at the lake. He also loved spending time with his family, whether it was playing with his brothers, cooking with his dad, baking with his mom, or visiting with his many cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. He was a hands-on kind of kid, and this was clear in how much he was looking forward to playing football at school as well as the dedicated care he took of his dog, Ripley, and his gecko, Buddy. Regardless of what he was doing or who he was with, he loved to be silly and make people laugh, from twerking to singing in the bathtub to entertaining his younger cousins. Bryce’s passing is heavy with sorrow, but he will live on in all of the happy, joyful memories that he gave to everyone who knew and loved him.

Bryce is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ernesto Gonzalez.

He is survived by parents Christy and Ernie; brothers Aiden and Seth; paternal grandmother Magdalena Gonzalez; maternal grandparents James and Patricia Matthews; aunt Kimberly Matthews; uncle Tim Matthews; and the Garza, Pestow, and Shafer families.

A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00pm, Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 S Broadway, Edmond. Funeral services will be at 10:00am, Monday, July 27, 2020 at the same location. A livestream link can be found for Bryce's service at https://www.facebook.com/Baggerley

Dear Christy & Ernie,

I am so sorry for the loss of your precious Bryce. I regret that I never had the chance to meet him personally but I feel as if I knew all of Ernie's boys as he so fondly and proudly shared stories of each of them. Ernie, your stories have meant so much to me--they are real, fun, inspiring and evidence of the deep love you have for your boys and for Christy.

Bryce will forever have a special place etched in my heart and memory. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Much love to you all.

I was so honored when Christy asked me to do a painting for her new baby
boys nursery. I had asked her what she had in mind and she said a baby elephant with the background matching his bedding design. I agreed and got to work on the elephant. Once I received a picture of his bedding I realized this was going to take forever, and it did. I painted this as a labor of love for Christy, Ernie and baby Bryce. I have a feeling choosing the elephant was for a reason, you see the elephant never forgets. Just like the love and joy Bryce brought to all of us will never be forgotten. May you have peace and comfort in your hearts knowing how Bryce’s big heart, vivacious personality and beautiful smile touched so many lives. I’m thinking and praying for you all every moment. I love you all.

Dear Christy, I loved being Bryce’s teacher. I loved how he hid his smiles until they were breaking out from the corners of his mouth, how he might give a little nod of recognition to you one day, or a fast hug on another, and you were okay with anything and everything he offered. He could stick with a task until he mastered it, then practice it until he crushed it with speed and zeal, making me laugh at how fast he could smack down sets of multiples, or fill up a board with designs of spelling words, then make sure he erased it all, not leaving a trace. He was quiet, and didn’t share often, so that when he did talk about his dogs, brothers, or classes, I tried to catch it all, occasionally being rewarded with some hilarious nugget. He was unique, and his passing leaves a hole that ripples through us. I saw so much joy in the pics you shared that flows along those same lines. I pray that you, Ernie, Aiden, and Seth will heal with a peace that passes understanding. I’ll always hold you in my heart, Friend.
