Born on October 28, 1942 in Shady Point, OK, to her beloved parents, George and Reba Tanksley, Carole grew up enjoying basketball and cheerleading. She graduated from high school and moved to the BIG city of Oklahoma City and attended Draughon’s Business College. She was the first person in her family to eventually complete a bachelor’s degree in the field of interior design and ultimately retired from a lengthy career with the State of Oklahoma as an Executive Secretary.
In her free time, she loved to play tennis and socialize with her many friends at The Greens Country Club, where she finally met her husband, Alan Deal Bowman. Together, they enjoyed playing tennis, travelling, attending the symphony, and supporting various arts organizations in OKC.
Carole raised a daughter, Kimberly, and is survived by her husband, Deal Bowman, Kimberly and her favorite son-in-law, Ray Plant; Stepsons, Scott Bowman and Colin Bowman; Grandchildren, Ryder Plant, Aidan Bowman, and Ren Bowman. Carole was predeceased by her parents, George and Reba Tanksley, her brother, Harold Tanksley and sister-in-law, Patsy Tanksley, and her granddaughter, Avery Nicole, and will rejoice in Heaven upon reuniting with these family members.
Carole was a vibrant and caring soul. She survived ovarian cancer and bravely fought dementia in the end. The family owes a debt of gratitude to the earthly angels on the staff at The Mansion Assisted Living community and Legacy Hospice, specifically, Nani, Donesha, Leilani, Holly, and Chaplain Jeremy.
A visitation will be held at Baggerley Funeral Home, located at 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK, on February 19, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
