

After suffering from a stroke on Christmas Eve, Monday evening, December 27th, Bessie "Cleo" Noe Lamson drifted to be with her Savior and Lord after spending almost 103 years (shy of two months) as an amazing ray of sunshine, strength and optimism to family and friends. Cleo is well known in the Edmond community as the co-founder/owner with her husband Crawford of Wide-A-Wake Cafe which was a landmark favorite on Route 66 for more than 50 years. Born February 21, 1908, near Sunset, Texas, Cleo was the daughter of James David and Amanda Christenberry. After retiring, Cleo found time to knit for family, friends and foreign ministries.
A loving mother of two daughters, Cleo is survived by her daughter Helen Fitzwater and grandchildren Steve and Phyllis Fitzwater of Jacksonville, Florida; Stan and Rhonda Fitzwater of Houston, Arkansas; Gary and Deb Atchley of Edmond; Janice and Steve Pitchford of Guthrie and Darrell and Debi Atchley of Oklahoma City. Preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Crawford Noe and Jack Lamson, brother s John and Bill Christenberry, a sister Leo Marcum, a daughter Maxine Atchley and a grandson Ted Fitzwater. Cleo is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 S. Broadway, in Edmond, from 5 to 9 p.m. on December 29th. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 30, 2010, at Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond.
