Dane Rudolph Johnson

Dane Rudolph Johnson, born on December 24, 1967, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Sunday September 6, 2026, leaving behind a Christ-centered legacy along with a sea of family and friends who love and miss him dearly.

Dane was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At two months of age, he was adopted by his parents, Judith Wylma Koehler Johnson and Chester Eugene Johnson, and was raised in Henderson, Texas. He attended Henderson High School where he met his high school sweetheart and wife, Jennifer. They experienced many high school traditions together like homecoming, two proms, and many extracurricular activities like band performances and football games to name a few. Shortly after Jennifer graduated, they were married in December 1989.

He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University and started his professional career in auto sales and management. A few years later, Dane became a high school teacher in Rusk, TX, and later at his alma mater Henderson, TX, where his passion grew for Information Technology and Education.

His expertise in computers and business administration took him, Jennifer and their children, Haley and Troy, to Edmond, Oklahoma in 2000 for a new job opportunity. Though it was scary to leave the tight knit friends and family in Texas, Dane and Jennifer trusted God’s plan and were blessed with many wonderful friends, opportunities, experiences, and too many memories to recall. His children fondly remember how he could make people laugh and smile. Where there was Dane, there was joy.

Knowing Dane also includes knowing his love for Jesus. Dane’s wife remembers him as a true Christian man with a deep affection for soulful worship music and quiet morning bible studies.

Together, Dane and Jennifer taught Haley’s youth group Sunday school class and often listened to sermons together on long car rides. He was a natural storyteller and teacher, making each lesson come to life with bonus trivia and funny anecdotes while sharing his love of God with all who knew him.

Echoing his relationship with Christ, Dane also loved being a faithful husband and doting father. He was incredibly proud of his wife and children and the life he built over his 58 years. His children remember his optimistic attitude and his superman tendencies. He somehow always knew what to do. And his love for a sunset paired with a glass of whiskey was unmatched. He was a true believer in the power of sharing a good meal with those he loved.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jennifer; his daughter, Haley Johnson, and her partner, Alan Beck; his son, Troy Johnson, and his girlfriend, Marissa Perez; his mother, Judith Koehler Johnson; his father, Chester Eugene Johnson, and his wife, Vicki.

Dane is also survived by his in-laws, Reba Carroll and Gary and Harriet Anderson, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He cherished a close circle of lifelong and newfound friends who will miss him dearly.

Dane left a big hole in our hearts and he will be deeply missed, but we’re comforted to know we’ll see him again.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK, on September 12, 2026, at 3:00 pm.
