On December 6, 1931 in Hominy, Oklahoma, Earlene (Deaton) Robison was born in a MKT railroad box car to Maggie and John (Earl) Deaton, who was a Katy railroad employee. A few years later, Earlene’s family moved to Oswego, Kansas. In high school she was a twirler in the marching band and when asked was always happy to sing “Oswego High” for you. In town, she was known as one of the “Deaton girls” and was often seen together with her older sister, Luellen. On January 23, 1953, Earlene married Ray Robison, the younger brother of Wilford Robison who had married Luellen Deaton, Earlene’s older sister!
Earlene and Ray with their four children moved from Tulsa to Edmond, OK in 1967 when Ray began working for Cain’s Coffee Co. Although most of her married life, Earlene was a homemaker; she spent 10 years working as the secretary for the Dean of Math and Science at Central State University (University of Central Oklahoma). Earlene and Ray also enjoyed traveling over the years.
Earlene and Ray were very active members of the First Baptist Church of Edmond. She taught children’s Sunday School for many years. She also worked in the church office for a few years. But their church life together began many years earlier, when as children and not being well acquainted, they were both baptized together on the same Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Oswego, Kansas.
Her hobbies included bird-watching and quilting. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the love of bird-watching. And each of her grandchildren has a baby quilt made for them by their Granny, Earlene.
She was united in Heaven with her parents, husband, Ray, and sister and brother in-law, Luellen and Wilford Robison
She is survived by daughter, Rene’ (Dwight) Adams, Edmond; son, Roger Robison, Brooklyn, NY; son, Keith (Susan) Robison, Edmond; and son, Kevin Robison, Edmond; grandchildren, Lindsey and Matthew Adams, Rebekah Campbell, MaryBeth Robinson, JulieAnn and Rachel Robison and Brady Ray Robison. Karsten Caleb Campbell is her precious great grandson. She is also survived by her brother, Raymond Deaton, El Dorado, Kansas.
