Irene was born in Cyril, Oklahoma on September 4, 1931 to Lawrence Reed Norris and Mary Ellen (Royce) Norris. She was the second child out of seven children. In her early years, she lived in Cement, Oklahoma and enjoyed playing basketball and other activities.
Irene graduated from Central State University “UCO” in 1971. She worked in the Oklahoma City public school system as a teacher and retired after many years of service.
Irene’s greatest joy was being a mother to her son, Tony, and Grandma! She loved her family very much and was always willing to be there for them whenever she could. She attended First United Methodist Church of Edmond for many years until her health made it difficult to attend.
Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Divine; brother Gene; and sister Lowetta.
She is survived by her son, Tony Thomas and his wife Sandy; three brothers: Jimmy, Merle, and Doug Norris and their families; one sister, Reba Hill and her family; grandchildren: Brad Thomas and wife Maddy, Caroline Franklin and husband Justin, Ryan Rogers, and Carly Rogers and wife Amber; great-granddaughters: Jocelyn, Ryan, and Teagan Rogers and Emberly Thomas; numerous nieces; nephews; other extended family members and friends.
She will be greatly missed by all that loved her!
