Elaine Horton

Elaine married Terry Horton in 1957 and moved to Edmond, OK in 1969 where they raised their sons Art and Kevin Horton. She spent 45 years in the medical field in various roles working for hospitals and doctors in New Mexico and OKC area, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and dedication.

She was a social butterfly who treasured being engaged with friends and family. When her grandchildren and great grandchildren were born, they were her pride and joy. Mention any of them and she lit up! She was so proud of each and every one of them. Elaine was an avid bridge player and teacher of bridge. She would often find herself bored if not playing bridge, cards, games or spending time with those she adored. Her vibrant spirit and laughter brightened the lives of all who met her.

She treasured and loved her best friend of over 50 years, Carol Crisp. She formed a remarkable friendship with Woody Courtney after the deaths of both of their spouses, creating a bond that brought immense joy to both. Along with this special friendship came her second family: the Courtneys/Smiths, who opened their hearts and homes to Elaine to include Myra, Jeff, and Rachel Smith, Steve, Rebecca, Aaron, Jacob and Katrina Courtney. Elaine forged many beloved friendships over the years, too many to list.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Terry Horton and son Art Horton, her parents, brothers Clarence, Don and twin Jerry, and her sister Nell Thompkins and special friend Woody Courtney.

Elaine is survived by her son Kevin Horton and wife Susan Horton. She leaves behind four adored grandchildren; Andrew Horton of League City, TX, Hilary Horton of El Campo, TX, Landon Savage of Frisco, TX, and Colby Kennemer of Luther, OK. She was blessed and survived by 11 great grandchildren; Ansley and Ava Horton; Rylan Jannise, Layla and RJ Stephens; Jackson, Parker, Eme and Charli Kennemer, and Madeline and Cameron Savage.

A Celebration of Life will be held at First United Methodist Church, 305 E Hurd St, Edmond, OK 73034, US, on August 20, 2026, at 10:00 am.
