Frances Anita Buckley passed away on Saturday July 8, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Frances was born on December 1, 1936 in Newark, New Jersey to Fritz and Henrietta Babendererde. Fritz’s employment as a masseur and swim coach led to Frances being raised in both New Jersey and Florida. She spent time following in her father’s footsteps as lifeguard before graduating from Broward High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Frances met Orville on a blind date while Orville was stationed in Florida. They fell in love and Frances followed Orville back to Oklahoma where they were married on April 29, 1956 at the First Presbyterian Church in Edmond. Otis and Frances began their family in Edmond with the birth of their oldest daughter Debbie in 1956. Connie was born in 1958 and Tammy in 1960. Soon after Tammy was born, the family relocated to Clinton where Cindy was born in 1961. In 1966, they moved back to Edmond where their youngest daughter Nancy was born.
Frances worked part time at the local Sears store in Edmond while raising her five girls and eventually went to full time and retired from Sears in 1994. A few of her hobbies include gardening, crocheting, quilting, knitting, camping, and listening to music. Frances enjoyed getting her hands dirty in the garden. The neighbors would always stop by to admire her beautiful flowerbeds. She also loved spending time with her family at the lake house on Lake Eufaula.
Frances enjoyed decorating her house and filling it with such love for all the holidays but her favorite was Christmas. She spent tireless hours cooking the holiday dinner, making her famous cheesecake, pies, breads, cookies and peanut brittle. Frances also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Brandy, Eric and Ryan and her great- grandchildren Tyler and Allyn.
Otis’s retirement from IBM did not last long and Otis and Frances relocated to Lawton in 1985 where Otis worked for another 5-6 years before moving back to Edmond to enjoy retirement by spending time with their daughters and camping with the family.
Frances was a generous, kind, loving woman that will be sincerely missed by her family and friends and all those lucky enough to have had Frances touch their lives.
Frances is survived by her 5 daughters Debbie Long, Connie Lagaly and husband Tom Lagaly, Tammy Wolf and her husband Daniel Wolf, Cindy Buckley, and Nancy Buckley.
