AS I WAS LOOKING AT ALL OF THE PICTURES ABOUT GARY AND HIS FAMILY I RAN ACROSS A PICTURE OF HIM WITH ME AS I WAS LEAVING VIETNAM IN FRONT OF A JEEP.  WE HAD JUST CELEBRATED MY DEPARTURE AND HIS SOON ON LEAVING VIETNAM.  IT WAS A CHALLENGING YEAR.  I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS...HE WAS/IS A GREAT GUY.

GARY AND I (HE WAS A MAJOR THEN AND I WAS A YOUNG CAPTAIN) WERE STATIONED IN PLEIKU VIETNAM FROM 1971 TO 1972.  HE AND I WORKED TOGETHER ON FLYING ACTIVITIES AT PLEIKU.  A GREAT GUY AND WE HAD A LOT OF DAILY CONVERSATIONS ABOUT FAMILY AND OUR WORKING RELATIONS.  LATER, I RAN IN TO GARY WHEN I WAS STATIONED IN AWACS AND HE HAD JUST RETIRED AND WAS WORKING WITH BOEING 12 YEARS LATER.

I knew Gary for over 35 years, he was a wonderful man whom I thoroughly enjoyed working side by side with  him for 20 years! I will miss him dearly! Rest in Peace my friend ! God Bless!

So sorry for your family’s loss. Our Nation lost a true hero and one of the founding fathers of our AWACS legacy at Tinker and abroad. I always remember his stories, his great laugh, and his very special teaching style. He was one of my instructors and I hope to perpetuate all he taught me as I teach the next generation of AWACS pilots. Keep an eye on us Gary! We have the watch.
