George E. Luehring went Home to be with Jesus on February 1, 2023. His family was able to surround him during his last hours at Integris Hospice House, and express their love and gratitude to an amazing father and faithful husband.
Born on July 18, 1931 in Hanover, Kansas to Edward and Iva Luehring, he learned the work ethic and integrity that would carry him through life, for which he would be known and respected. He was a man that not only worked hard, but loved well, as his faithfulness to his wife, Beverly Luehring, through 69 years of marriage would attest.
George attended schooling through the school system of Manhattan, KS, where he went on to graduate from Kansas State University, where he graduated in 1953.
George married his high school sweetheart on April 1, 1953, which set them up for “April Fools” quips the rest of their lives. Seeing that they had 69 wonderful years together, it would appear that the joke was on others, not them.
Having been in ROTC during college, George went on to serve in the Army for 4 years stateside. Upon finishing his duty, he went to work for Dowell, whom he worked for most of his working life; a rare thing by today’s standards.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Bev, 4 children; Tom, Ted, Kenny, and Nancy, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed, but his presence has left an indelible mark in all who have known him.
A memorial service for George will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034.
