Gerald was born to John and Florence Deaton on February 29, 1940 in Oklahoma City and grew up in Edmond, OK. He served in the US Army from 1957-1961. After being honorably discharged, he met and married Margaret Clymer and together they had three sons; Gerald “Jerry”, Steve, and Doug. Gerald and Margaret shared 54 years of marriage and he loved spending time with her. He spent most of his time fishing, farming, and raising chickens. He loved to sit with Unie Clymer, his father in law, at the bait stand in Guthrie and loved sharing his knowledge with his sons.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Deaton; 3 sons, Gerald “Jerry” Deaton, Jr., Steve Deaton, and Doug Deaton; one brother, James Robert Deaton; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.
